Introduction
Under Armour should be on your gear radar by now if you've been following GSP's fights in the UFC. With GSP as their frontman, they've came out with a number of gear more targeted towards MMA fans, such as some GSP t-shirts and compression tops better designed for grappling. However, if you're on a budget, the good old UA compression top is still a great choice

Aesthetics
Unlike the leggings, this one comes in a whopping 16 different colors! Feel free to go wild mixing the colours in your wardrobe, if that's your thing. Beyond the colour choices, the design is pretty basic, just the UA logo in front and a tag behind. These ones crack after a couple of washes and will probably peel off with use.
Besides the longsleeve variant, there's also the short sleeves and Cold Gear lines.
Form & Fit
For this compression top, S comes a little too tight on my frame, which is great news for smaller sized fighters. I'm not that big a guy and can squeeze into S if I want to, but the compression is way too uncomfortable for me. My chest size is 94cm, which is in between sizes on the sizing chart, so I opted for the M which was much better.
The length of the sleeve is just slightly longer than my wrist, which isn't much of an issue. I'd rather have it longer than shorter. The length of the top is decent as well, reaching just past my hips, although that might not be enough as I'll explain later.
The material does get looser after a few washes, so keep that in mind when selecting sizes, as it will stretch to fit you somewhat. As for any rashguard or compression material, you may want to handwash or put it in a washbag to maintain its elasticity for a longer time. Stretching it around like a snake in the machine is not the best way to care for it.
Functionality
Designed primarily as a compression top rather than a rashguard, this top doesn't have all the newfangled rashguard features like flatlock seams and 6 panel stitching. However, they are still pretty comfortable and I don't really feel the seams or get any chafing while wearing them.
Restriction in movement is minimal, though I do feel the difference between the Raglan sleeves (collar to sleeve in one piece) usually used for rashguards compared to the standard sleeves on this top. While noticeable when throwing punches or grappling on the ground, I don't consider it a major impairment. The material will still stretch to allow movement after all.
Breathability for this top is decent, doesn't feel like it's soaking up sweat during the session itself, and it doesn't get heavier as you train. Compared to some other rashguards, it still comes off a little wet at the end of the session though.
One sticking point for some guys is that the sleeve and the bottom of the compression top can and will roll up during intense grappling sessions. On rare occasions, I've had the sleeve come halfway up the forearm. Having to pull down the top when it rolls up my tummy every now and then can also be a little irritating. However, I hardly consider these deal-breaking when you look at the price point.
These are fairly durable and the ones I have are still going strong. It's a little looser than it first started out, and there are a few loose threads here and there, but otherwise it's good.
Affordability
Going at US$ 34.99 (SGD$ 45) on the UA website, these are pretty darn cheap compared to the premium on other branded rashguards. Worth buying a few as everyday roll and tumble, especially when going for a hard session against rough guys.
Problem, as usual, is shipping. Don't bother getting them off the UA website. Shipping options and costs suck big time. These are easily available off eBay for decent rates, though you'll probably have to factor in shipping and hunt around a bit for a good bargain. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that someone eventually brings UA to the region soon. Last I heard from them, they were more keen on the China and S.Korea market than SEA.
Conclusion
These are a great pair of compression top for budget grapplers. Even if you have other rashguards lying around, grab a few as backup. You won't regret it.
